Salma Consulting is a research, monitoring, and evaluation firm which brings over 15 years of operational and technical monitoring, evaluation, and research experience in Afghanistan. We at Salma focus on data collection, analysis, M&E, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research studies across all 34 provinces. 

Salma was established based on a dire need to provide contextually relevant and accurate insight into Afghanistan’s changing and complex environment. We at Salma are committed to developing a multi-level research culture and rigorous and contextualized evidence-based approaches to development and humanitarian work across the country. Salma recognises and values research as more than a checkpoint in a project cycle, but rather an evidence-based pillar from which decisions are made. Salma, therefore, positions itself as a team of specialised individuals who ensure that quality and actionable outcomes along with applicable strategies to supporting marginalised and vulnerable populations are made available to our clients. 

Our team is highly specialised in conducting MERL in key thematic areas of the development sector in the country, including public health, education, agriculture, WASH, gender, child protection, peace and security, economic livelihoods, and engagement with highly marginalised and vulnerable populations. Salma ensures that our field teams are made up of both male and female data collectors, ensuring the most appropriate team member is allocated to targeted stakeholders.   Over the last 8 years, Salma has refined its research and evaluation methods to ensure safe and respectful engagement with vulnerable groups, especially women and girls, to ensure the findings and recommendations are as contextually relevant as possible.
